Garage sale profit: $4,187.00
Selling my husbands truck,
without it being for sale, at the garage sale: Priceless!
WOOT!
(Best garage sale ever!)
Hope everyone had a great weekend. We spent part of it getting ready for a neighborhood garage sale that is next weekend. Already sold a few things to my neighbors! Love getting rid of my junk. Also put up our decorations for halloween. I know it isn't October yet, but I will be busy next weekend and so had to get it up now. It is vey spooky, according to Jake. I will take a few pictures tonight if I can remember to do so so you can see just how scary our yard is!
We also went to a Hot Air Balloon Festival. We took our neighbors kids with us. They had a blast. I know I complain about Abilene not having much to do here, but this festival is one of the better things to do in this town, and the weather was perfect for it this year. Last year it was windy so the Balloons could not go up. But here are a few photos of their light show, I just love the colors:
A lone balloon, I tried to get a few shots of them when they went up into the air, but they did not come out well...
I told Grace and Jake to smile and this is what I got from them:
Great kids.
Hope you all had a good weekend, enjoy the beautiful fall weather that is starting to show itself.

I have voted, it was mailed today,
so I can not change my mind now.
I am happy with my choice.
I did not base it on the "great" advice I received from my fellow bloggers! What really surprised me is that no one gave me any concrete reasons why I should vote for a certain canidate. All I really got was "He scares me". I have read that a lot on others blogs and heard it from others personally. My question is why does he scare you? I heard it for both canidates too although no one said it for McCain here on my blog, I know there are those who have said it. So what is so scary about Obama or McCain for that matter. Who is scarier? If they are so scary I guess we will see alot of them around for halloween costumes!

Now that is scary!
I am writing a short paper for a class. It has to be on something that has influenced American Culture, like coca cola. I have chosen to do mine on television. I have several ideas about this and am doing research on it. But I would like your opinion on how television has influenced the American culture. Thanks in advance.
Also, to all my friends who are taking classes, how do you document a web page as a source? I hated doing it for books so this is not easy for me. Thanks again.
For those of you who know my son, you know that he HATES band-aids, with a passion. On Saturday he got a blister on his toe but there was no way he was going to let me put a band-aid on it. This evening I cut my thumb and needed a band-aid. So Jake decides that he needs one too for his boo-boo on his toe. He insisted on putting it on his toe. Now the picture is blurry, but take a close look...
The band-aid is on the wrong toe!
But he insists that it feels much better!
What's happening hotstuff?
Busy week, lots of things going on that is why I have not blogged. I have been keeping up with peoples blogs, part of my morning routine. But to sit down and write something takes time and no interruptions, which happen to be less often then I would like. So what is going on you might be asking yourself?
Jake had his first soccer game. It was so hot out, those poor kids. But they were troopers. Jake actually chased after the ball, never kicked it but hey this is progress, considering he stood around a lot last year and would even cry telling me he did not want to play. Oh the mean things us parents make our kids do. Jake followed orders of the coach and when he was told to keep the other kids from getting the ball Jake went after them and pushed them out of the way...hey, he was only following orders. It was a good game, and technically we won, but no one was keeping score.
Bob has a new job! YEAH!!!! No more shop chief/flight chief for him. He is now a big time Pro Super. Basically he makes sure that all the shops in his squadron are doing whatever job they are suppose to be doing. But it is great for him. Helps with promotion and he really, really needed to get out of that shop that he was in. The bad part about this job...two things really...the hours, 3 to midnight, and of course no increase in pay! That is the military for you. Take on more responsibility but no more money for you! I have to say though that when he told me about this job, it was the first time in a long time that I have seen him excited and pumped up. So I am glad for him. He really needed this change.
Taught Sunday school for the first time yesterday. I am teaching 2nd graders with my friend Suzana. This is the year that the kids receive the Sacrament of the Eucharist (Holy Communion). I am so excited about being a part of this. Usually Sunday school is boring, from what I remember, so we want our kids to have fun and to want to be there, plus learn about our faith too. Yesterday when it was time for the class to end, they did not want to leave! So I think we are on the right path. I have to say that it really made me miss teaching. They were so sweet. Definitely am considering getting certified here in Texas, because I have a feeling we are not moving anytime soon. You all know that is not what I want, but I think I need to prepare for it just in case that is what happens.
Jake goes to Sunday School too. I think he enjoyed it. I am beginning to think that we are over doing it though. He goes to three different religious school...one for preschool, one for Mothers Day Out and now Sunday school. He does need it...LOL! But I will have to monitor him to make sure we are not in overkill here. He does not have one free day to himself between school and soccer...it is crazy and he is only 4!
A close friend of mine is having some tests done tomorrow. She is a breast cancer survivor. Some lumps have been detected so please if you can keep her in your prayers tomorrow morning. She really needs them. Let's hope that it is nothing. She is an awesome person and I would hate to see her have to go through this again. Thanks in advance for your prayers.
Have a great week!
Wow, the first line says it all...
| Your Issue Profile: 56% Obama, 44% McCain |
![]() You could vote for either of them. You are the typical coveted swing voter. You may want to narrow yourself down to a particular set of issues in order to pick your president. Or start looking at third party candidates. One of them might suit you better. |
I have a Friday Funny for you.
But first I must tell you that after this funny play with words took place,
my husband said to me "Don't you dare blog about this!"
Of course right then I knew I couldn't resist.
I wasn't going to put it on here, but I have to do it.
Sorry Dad, if you read this, Bob said it. Not me!
Bob put Jake to bed the other night.
Jake came out of his room.
Bob put him back in his room
and Jake said to Bob "Mom, said no more monkey's jumping on the bed, dad."
Bob replies," And this little monkey better stay in bed, or I am going to spank the monkey."
I could not help but laugh when I heard that.
Freudian slip?
(You do get it right? If not don't ask me to explain it, please)

If you want to improve your financial situation you need to check out my friends blog.
She has some awesome suggestions. Be sure you start at the beginning of her blog and catch up with it. She has just started so there is not a whole lot to read. One of the best ideas I got from her blog so far is to alphabetize your coupons rather then by product. It is so much easier to find them!
