  • Sorry I haven't been around much...busy with life I guess.  Getting ready for summer.  Signing Jake up for swim lessons today, planning our summer vacation to Atlanta for the 4th.  Only 3 more working days for me at my part time, part time job...decided to become a real stay at home mom and enjoy the summer with Jake before he is off to Pre K this coming school year.  I can not believe that my little baby boy is already going off to school.  It really is sad how time can seem to go by so fast and then there are the times when it is so slow, like waiting for a stop light to change.

This weekend we are going to the Zoo salute for military members here in our communitee.  It is really nice, lunch is free, lots of fun activities and entrance to the zoo is free.  Jake will love it.  We are also thinking of going to a Luau after church on Saturday evening.  Sunday I have a meeting to attend in the afternoon, so it will be a busy weekend.  I can not believe that next weekend is Memorial Weekend.  We are having a fish fry.

Got to go...will blog more later.  Sorry!

  • Not even a tornado could slow me down!

More about that in a minute... you don't want to miss it, I saved some lives!

My friends and I went to Canton this weekend (see post below) We had a blast. We arrived on Thursday afternoon and started the shopping extravaganza.  This place was huge and had just about everything you could ask for. The first big purchase was made within the first hour or so, by Amy.  She bought this really cool purse made from cowboy boots.  Paid major mula for it and even got to ring this man's bell!

    Canton 001

You can see that Amy is enjoying this. (Ring my beeelllll, ring my bell, my bell, ringa ding a linga alinga, linga...)

Here are a few pics from the grounds, I wish I had taken more of the stalls, but the vendors were not thrilled when people did that...oh well...

    Canton 003 Canton 002

Looks like the ghetto, but there were pavilions with stalls set up inside that were pretty nice.

    Canton 015

I loved the name of this place, don't worry my big @$$ did not sit there!

    Canton 005

Isn't this precious? This is for my sister to look at.

Kaylee would love this in her playroom!

So Thursday night we went and ate some awesome mexican food

and then passed out from exhaustion.

Friday we headed out early so that we could get a good parking spot, but I had to go to the bathroom first before we left.  Heard about it the whole trip over to the market place..."We would have been here earlier if someone did not have to go potty...blah blah blah."  I am telling you all this part because it is important.  You see if I did not have to go at that moment we would have arrived right at the same time that the tornado did.  We just missed it.  It touch down right at the market place.  We got there probably five to ten minutes after it passed.  So you see, I saved two precious lives, well three including me, by having to go pee.  I bet no one harasses me about my bladder issues any more! LOL

Here are a few pictures of the aftermath:

    Canton 007 Canton 012

Entrance to the grounds, trees down everywhere...tents all torn up

    Canton 013 Canton 006

Trees landed all over the place, peoples goods such as this purse where hanging in odd places.

    Canton 010

This car flipped over three times, the lady inside it came out with a scratch.

    She was lucky.

So after all the excitement was over, we continued shopping

and did a lot of damage to our pocketbooks!

    Check out this cool dude:

    Cutie eh?

Before we left we stopped at a farmers market, it had so much wonderful food.

The colors of this picture are so amazing!

That night we head back to Dallas.

As we got closer to the Dallas area we ended up in this:

    Canton 019

Traffic!  Not use to that in Abilene.

While sitting in traffic this guy came upon us, noticed three hot chicks in the car and asked us if we wanted his picture.  We didn't, but to make the guy feel good about himself, we of course said we did:

    Canton 018

    Now he's one hot bubba!

Our last stop on our way home from a great weekend was here:

    Canton 022

    Love this place.

Finally here is what the car looked like when we were done with the fun:

I would say it was a successful weekend of shopping.

My poor family will have to eat bread and butter

for a month so that we can catch up on our finances!

Thanks to Amy and Suzana for a great time

of fun, laughter, food, and good friends!

Conversation this morning with my 4 year old:

Mom:  Can I have a morning kiss?

    Jake: No mom.

    Mom: Why not?

Jake:  Because I don't like kisses, they are yucky.

Mom: Oh, that hurts my heart Jake.

    Jake:  You'll live mom.

    *sigh*

I will write more later.  I can't wait to tell you what I am doing next weekend!!! Let's just say "Girl's only!"

  • I am sure you are wondering what I did to celebrate Bob's big day.  Well, even if you are not I am going to share it with you anyway!

I wanted to surprise him so plan A was to take him to Perini Steak House.  This is a place we have been wanting to go since we moved here, yet we haven't.  I was going to have our friends meet us there and surprise him.  Well, Perini's was having there annual wine festival, which was like 400 dollars a pop, so that did not happen.

    Plan B:

Have a surprise party at home.  All good, except some of our friends were going out of town and then I was told there was an exercise that weekend (turned out it was the weekend before) so the guest list would have mainly been my girlfriends and Bob.  Plus a bunch of kids running around...not my idea of a fun way to celebrate a "BIG" moment!

    Plan C:

Cater lunch with Sharon's BBQ,  My favorite BBQ place in this town. Take it to his work and surprise him.  We went with plan C.  I feed his whole shop.  The guys (and 2 girls) loved it and Bob was kind of surprised.  He saw my number come across one of the girls phone at work one day so he knew I was up to something.  Then the First Shirt asked him to go do dorm inspections with him, which he never does, and when they got there and started to walk along the outside of the dorms, the First Shirt's phone rang and he told Bob they had to go because Bob was needed back at the shop.  Finally he saw my car in the parking lot. Oh well, he still enjoyed it.

    Here are a few pictures:

Birthday boy! Note the wierd faces on both of them, they are so alike!   The food:  Brisket, sausage, Jalapeno corn, mashed potatoes and coleslaw.  YUM!!

    DSC00289 Bob's Big 40 002

My helper in all of this, Kristy.                                        The cake!  I made a coffin and it said: "Mourning the passing of Bob's youth.  Happy Birthday Bob!"

As for his birthday gift, this man was spoiled.  Our lawn mower went kaputz a few weeks ago so we got a new one, he said that could be his gift.  I could have left it at that but I felt he deserved better, since he really is a good guy.  So I got him a GPS Navigational System.  He has been wanting one for a while now.  While we were in Dallas and became very lost, I decided that would be his gift.

Garmin nuvi 200 Portable GPS with 3.5" Display Screen

So that was how his day went.  He really enjoyed it.  Last night we stayed home and watched a move.  The lunch was so filling that neither of us felt like having a big dinner.  He received many nice cards and cash gifts from family members and tons of good wishes.  I would say turning 40 for him went a lot easier than he thought it would! Ha!

And can you believe that this fine, youthful, thing is married to a man who will be 40 tomorrow?

  • Can we say "Drama King"?

Jake stubbed his toe when he fell outside today.  He HATES band aides, so when he has to wear one it is very traumatic for him.  The picture is dark and a bit hard to understand, but you can see that Jake knows how to play it up and take advantage of a situation! LOL

  • It's official....

    I am allergic to Texas!

Yesterday around 4ish, my right eye and right side of my lip started itching, then they swelled a little bit.  I figured it was probably allergies, no big deal.  Around 11:30 at night I was so itchy and miserable that Bob went to Walmart to get me some Benadril. Yes, I have a wonderful hubby who agreed, without complaining,to get out of bed and to go out into the night and join the freaks at Walmart (they were there too!).

When I woke up in the morning my eye was swollen shut and my left eye was starting to swell.  Not good.  Went to the doctors and had to have a steroid shot in my bum...ouch! He gave me some good meds that put me into lala land, like I am not already there. He also informs me that I could have more outbreaks.

I am wondering just how many outbreaks it will take for me to have before the US Military sees that this place is not healthy for me and that they need to move us to a place where I can life comfortably, say Italy (lol)?  Seriously though, you would think that since all of us in my family are having a hard time here with our allergies they might consider moving us...so far, no.  Of course there are many people suffering here like us that are still here.  Oh well.

By the way, I also realized I am becoming more addicted to blogging.  While waiting to be seen I was thinking that I need to take a closeup of my eye and post it on my blog and ask my loyal readers what they thought they were looking at...sick huh?  Don't worry there is no picture to see, I did not bring my camera with me.

Well, I have to go.  We are under a tornado warning so I must go and listen to the weather stuff...hope to be back soon.

  • I have been waiting for my friend, Amy, to send me her pictures from Easter because she said that they are hilarious and that I will want to use them in my blog.  I still am waiting.  Might even be my fault since she isn't sure how to send them to me. She only lives two house away, yet I haven't found time to go and show her how to do this...so...we wait. I guess I could just get her disk from her and bring it home. Oh well, I am going to skip writing about Easter for now.  I will tell you it was a wonderful day, although very cold.  A few of our neighbors and us got together and had a really fabulous lunch and then we did an egg hunt and a pinata with the kids.  Maybe one day I will be able to share the pictures with you...perhaps next Easter.

Instead of writing about Easter I will write about our surprise with Jake.  Two weekends ago we took Jake to Dallas for a surprise.  He had no idea what was in store for him.  If you noticed on my blog that I have added a few new things to my "Things I have never done before in my life" list, you might know what the surprise is.  But the video below really says it all...

You can feel the excitement and the surpise that Jake was experiencing! LOL He is so like my father...keeps his emotions to a minimum.  Wish he was like that at other times!  Anyways, we spent Saturday and Sunday in Dallas.  Jake got to ride Thomas, which he loved.  He has been asking me for a long time to go on a train ride.  His wish has come true.  My fear now is that he is starting to get into Lightning McQueen and will want to ride in a race car!  Not so sure about that.  Below are a few pictures from our weekend.

We went to the Rainforest Cafe for dinner that night.  Jake had a blast with all the "live" animals.

    It was a great weekend.

    In other news...

My baby is sick...Shelby, my poor puppy dog, has stones.  Three in her belly and one in her kidney.  She is suffering.  She can hardly potty and sometimes even yelps when she tries because it hurts.  My poor baby.  She is on a special diet, can't even have treats.  The food is disgusting looking, not that dog food is appetizing anyway, but this is really gross.  We have to do this for 2 months and see if there is any improvement.  If not, we will have to do surgery.  Please pray that we do not have to resort to that.  My mother-in-laws dog had the same problem (they are from the same breed) and it cost her major money to have it done, twice!

I am almost done with my class that I am taking on line, next week is the final.  Then I only have one more class to take to renew my teaching certificate.  I plan to go back to teaching in another year, so I will need it.  But I sure will be glad when these classes are over.

That's it for now.  Tomorrow is suppose to be a major sever weather day, more likely in the evening.  Please keep all of us who are suppose to get some bad weather in your thoughts!  Thanks.
