  • Man, blogging twice in one day...what's that all about?

Today the kids wanted to get into the pool, unfortunately the pool walls keep falling over no matter how full the pool gets.  There was a little bit of water in it and I did not feel like getting them into their suits so I told them they could go get wet in their clothes...which is usually a big no no in my house.  They could not believe that I would allow it.  They had a blast.

Update on my job decision.  I decided to not accept the job because I just did  not want to be with the 2/ 3 year olds.  So I told him that and that I would only do it if I was back in the baby room with Suzana.  He told me he was sorry about that, but already had someone in there.  I told him that I knew she had not started yet and should ask her if she would go to another class.  When I hung up with him Suzana called him and told her she would do it but really wanted me with her in the baby room.  So long story short, he called me back and the room was mine if I wanted it.  So I decided what the heck...so I start back up at the end of August.  Yeah!

  • Do you ever feel guilty if you have been tagged by a fellow blogger and you do not do the tag?  For some reason I did this time and I have put it off but it kept nagging at me.  Maybe it is because I was kind of surprised that she tagged me, since she doesn't really know me, but we are becoming blogger buds...so here is my tag...  Thanks Lorelei!

I have been tagged to explain 5 unspectacular things about myself. They are:

    1. I've been wearing contacts since I was 22 years old.
    2. I like dance music and love to dance, privately these days! (Not that kind of dancing!)
    3. I use to pretend to be a teacher when I was little, my poor sisters were the students, never the teacher.
    4. I peel my fingernails.
    5. I love to read a good trashy novel, sometimes it even puts me in the mood for some....ice cream?

Whomever wants to do this feel free.  It was kind of hard to think of 5 unspectacular things about myself.  No I am not being conceited...seriously.  So have at it whomever wants to do it.

    An after thought here:

Did anyone see the news report about happiness in women and men?  It said that women are more happy when they are in their 20's/30's and as they age they become less happy.  Men are the opposite, they become more happy as they age.  What do you think?  If that is the case becoming forty in 5 days means I am not going to be so happy, right?

  • So what is going on?  Seems like tons of stuff yet not so much really.  I haven't blogged in a while so I thought I should.  These will just be random thoughts about things going on in my life right now so if your not in the mood for rambling you do not have to read...here goes...

A good friend of my mom's husband passed away this week.  I believe he was in his early 70's??? He had the most beautiful blue eyes ever.  Very good looking man.  My parents have been friends with them since...well way back when.  Anyhow his passing is a sad story.  He has been suffering from Alzheimers.  Very sad really, but some of the things he did were hilarious, even though he did not know what he was doing.  For instance he wanted  aho-ho at the grocery store, so opened them up and ate them rather than paying for them because he did not want all of them, only one.  His driving privileges were taken away from him , which he was not happy about, so he walked to the local car dealer, tried to buy a car for 200 dollars and then turned around and gave the money to some lady that was there.  I feel so bad for his family, especially his wife.  She took care of him through out this entire ordeal.  They tried to put him in a home but he always ended up in a room with just the bare minimums because of his behavior, he was not so nice to the nurses.  Anyway, he is at peace now.  Please keep his family in your prayers.

Remember I quit my job at the Mothers Day Out program in May?  Well I have been enjoying not working and having the summer to myself.  I have been contemplating returning to teaching beginning with subbing this fall.  Jake will be in Pre K 3 days a week but not full days.  I have been trying to make arrangements with a friend who is willing to take him.  But I am not sure if it will be worth the money to sub and then pay for his care.  I also wanted to use the time that he was in school to hit the gym and get my 20 year old body back...okay I would take my 30 year old body too.  Just give it back to me!  (Rambling) So my old boss from MDO called me yesterday and asked if I wanted to come back.  He also called two other people who left in May.  I worked in the baby room and enjoyed it.  He does not want to put me there, he wants me with the three year olds.  I don't want that because I would be in the room by myself, no help and the class can take up to 9 kids, although there is only 4 there right now and he told someone else that it would only be 4  permanently, I some how doubt that.  Also the pay is minimum wage...says he will give me a raise, 10 cents!  It is a church MDO so I know money is tight but seriously, minimum wage.  Of course it would only be Tuesday and Thursdays that I would be working there so I would have my MWF.  Jake would have to go there, thus I would pay tuition for him there and at the other school.  I like having a little bit of extra money for petty cash so that I can get those pedicures when I want to, but..I don't know...I haven't quite decided what my gut is telling me to do.  What do you think it is saying?

I will be 40 years old in one week from today.  AUGH!!!!! I need to do something crazy to end my 30's on a good note. Any suggestions? Bob is throwing me a small party on Saturday night.  Okay he is the host, but I am getting most of it together.  He is responsible for the cake and for the tequila for the margarita's.  He also is doing the grilling.  We are having three different kinds of quesadillas, plus sides and a few salsa's and guacamole!  YUMMY!!! Can't wait, for the party that is, 40 can wait!

Well, I guess I am going to go and work on organizing Jake's toys for the hundredth time!  FUN TIMES!

I knew that when I finally became a parent that I would eventually start to experience the way parents feel when their child starts school.  I have taught for 13+ years and heard many comments from parents, but although I thought I understood, I guess I did not always relate to their feelings, because I was not a parent.  Well times are a changin...I have had my first experience of being on the other side of the table.  Instead of being the teacher, I am the parent.

I received Jake's welcome letter in the mail from his Pre K teacher.  Enclosed was a list of school supplies.  HOLY COW!!!  The teacher sure wants a lot of stuff.  While looking at the list I realized this is how many of my parents probably have felt when they got their school supply list.  Now I can empathize with them.  They need everything from crayons, glue, markers to construction paper and tissues.  I also have to get a disposable camera with zoom on it!  OMG!

I know he is going to a private school for pre K, our choice.  But heck I just paid a 75 dollar book fee.  Is he really going to have a 75 dollar book to use in pre K?  Then of  course I have to pay the first tuition payment by the first of August.  OUCH!  But it will be worth it if he learns all that they say he will.  I have heard many high praises about the pre K program at this school and it was exactly what I was looking for.  So we shall see.  All of this and it is only for pre K...I am dreading what it will be like once he heads off to college.  My poor pocket book.  I may need to cut back on those pedicures this year!

  • A morning funny for you this fine Friday...

Jake woke up early this morning, like 5AM, will get to that in a minute.  He asked his dad if he could watch Curious George..more like told him to turn it on.  Bob asked him what the magic word was?  Jake's response..."Pocus and Abracadabra!"

So why was Jake up so #^$* early?

It goes back to yesterday when I had to call posion control at 8:30 am.  Yep that is right, I had to call them because of my sweet 4 year old and his drug problem.

Jake woke up yesterday with his allergies really bothering him and I realized that we had forgotten to give him his meds the night before.  So I gave them to him right then.  Well, I left a container of singular out on the counter so that I would remember to call in for a refill.  ( I heard you all go "Oh-oh!") So a little while later I am here on the computer as usual and Jake comes in and says "Mom, I took my vitamin".  I asked him what vitamin? He took me to the kitchen and showed me the bottle of Singular.  The child proof top was on, but that does not mean he did not put it on after he took his "vitamins". I had him try to open it just to see if he could do it, he couldn't. I asked him how many he took and he said two. (Remember I just gave him his meds...a singular and zyrtec) Not knowing if  he really took them or not, and he insisted that he did, I call my neighbor/nurse friend Amy and she said to call Poison Control, just to be safe.  So I did.

They said the dosage that he took is not harmful but it may make him a little more hyper than usual or have the complete opposite effect on him and make him very sleepy.  I don't know if it was just me, but he sure did seem very hyper a little while after that.  He is a kid full of energy to begin with so I am not sure if it was any more so than usual.  BUT...right after swimming class he zonked out in the car on the way home for about 20 minutes.  After that he refused to take a nap. He still needs his naps because by about 4 o'clock if he does not have a nap, you are well aware of it. Last night by 7 he was bathed and watching a movie.  This picture was taken at 7:15...

Poor kid.  Sometime I am glad he is an early riser because both Bob and I are early risers....but 5AM is way to early...this is going to be a long day.

Does anybody know what flower this is?

I was told once what it was called but can not remember.  I love these flowers, they are so different.

Here are some more pictures from my yard.

I just felt like taking some pictures this morning and thought I would share them with you.

  • We went to Atlanta for the 4th of July to visit my sisters.

My parents came up from Florida.  It was a great visit.

We went to the Atlanta Zoo, The water park at Six Flags, my sister Kelly's house for the 4th, and just hung out with the family.

Lot's of fun.  The only bad thing about the pictures is there were none of Grandpa!

  • It is late in the night for me, 10:30...okay, early for some but for me I am usually dead tired.  But I am not and my mind is going at full speed.  So I thought I would read some blogs and hope that would help me get tired...Not that you all are boring or anything, but maybe looking at the computer long enough will make me sleepy.

I have been having this odd desire to want to return to work, teaching to be exact.  My plan in to not go back until Jake starts Kindergarten which is in another year.  This year he will be in pre K for three days a week, mornings only.  I thought about going and subbing those three days but there are a few problems with that.  I would have to find someone to watch him in the afternoons and pay them so it is worth their effort to go and pick him up, feed him and deal with him being tired. I have a friend who is interested but she hasn't told me how much.  School does not start until 8:15 I think.  So I would have to rely on my neighbor to take him to school in the mornings, plus let him hang out for about a half hour before leaving for school because I would have to leave to go sub probably by 7:30.  I am sure she would not mind, but I don't want her to feel I am taking advantage of her, so I would have to do extra nice stuff for her, like watch her kids once in a while or buy her lunch..not a bad deal. Subbing does not pay much so paying for day care may not be worth it. I also really wanted to use that time when Jake is in school to go and work out at the gym.  I have to loose weight and finding the time right now is hard.Yes, I know excuses, excuses but it is.
I want to go back to teaching for a few reasons...I am actually missing it. I am not sure when we will be moving from here so I am beginning to think maybe I need to get my foot in the door through subbing and start working on getting certified in Texas.  I dread the exams I would have to take, but I can do it.

What I really would like to do this year is find something I could do at home, at my time, and still make a little bit of money.  It doesn't have to be much, but I always hear about those people who work at home.  I have looked into a few jobs that I have seen advertised for working at home, but they have all had some kind of gimmick behind them, where you have to shell out some money in order to make some money...no thanks.

So if your looking for a highly motivated, organized, quick learner to do some work for you at my house, I am your girl!  Maybe I should just open a day care in my house...Ummm...maybe not, I think I would have to be desperate for money, and I am not, before I did something like that.  My head is hurting already just thinking about all the extra noise that would be added to my house by doing that!

Alright it is even later now, so I think I will go read some blogs, and surf the net a bit and then try to close my eyes and go to sleep.

    Night night.
