  • A Typical Texas Day?

Okay, I still haven't figured out how to switch back to my old xanga page.  I will though, I did this once before, I just hope that this time they still let me go back.

Anyway, here is a quick look at our weather...I have never lived in a place before where the weather was so hard to predict, it changes constantly.

Everytime I hear myself on tape I notice how that Texas twang is starting to sneak into my speech...

I am not becoming one of them.  I repeat, I am not becoming one of them...

    A TEXAN!

  • EDIT:  Help!  How do I go back to the old xanga???

Well, the old version is back.  I just do not like the new one.  Probably because I am so comfortable with the old way.  Oh well, maybe I am getting old and set in my ways!

Today school was cancelled due to our wintery mess outside.  ICE all over the place.  I was so worried because Bob had to drive home in it this morning, but he did fine.  Luckily the base shut down and he does not have to go into work tonight.

One of my blogging buddies, Sherry, informed me that I was her number one reader.  That means I am on this computer way to much.  I like to go and see if there are any new updates that I may have missed from my blogging buddies.  I know I am on here to much, especially lately.  Not working and not having classes to take means I have more time on my hands.  I have been thinking about Lent, although it is a month away, I have thought that I may give up computer time, that would be  hard.  I don't think I would give it totally up but maybe limit my time on it or only allow myself to get on it once a day.  I will have to think about that.

Well got to go and do something...don't know what that something is ... maybe read some blogs?

  • A Time for Change

I thought I would try this new version of Xanga.  I know it isn't "new" but it is new to me.  I will see how it goes.  Not to much is new here.  We are waiting for some rain/ice to arrive later today.  We need the rain really bad.

Did not sleep well at all last night.  Bob left for work at 11:00pm, I was still up but fell asleep after 11:30.  I only know this because I heard the clock ding at 11:30 but not 12.  Then at 12:06 Jake is in my room, extremely upset.  I was out of it and could not understand him at all.  I then heard this loud noise.  What the heck?  I get up to investigate.  Apparently Jake or some other little child who was in our house yesterday, set the alarm clock in his room.  IT WAS LOUD!!!  Needless to say, Jake was upset and wide awake.  It took about another hour for him to finally fall asleep.  I went back to bed very tired.  Of course I don't fall right to sleep and I felt like I tossed and turned all night.  Rest my alarm to get up later and I woke up at 5:15.  Could not fall back asleep.  Kept thinking about the Dugger Family, you know who they are, that family of 17  18 on TBS.  I watched their eldest son of 20 get marriedl last night. So that was in my head.  That family is a whole other blog.  So finally got out of bed to start my day at 6:15 start the shower and there is Jake.  I could not believe he was up.  I

On our ride to school this morning he tells me he needs a nap.  I sure hope he has a good day at school today.  When he is tired he is cranky...so I will be surprised if he stays on "green" today.

Well that is it for now.  I think I will go and catch a quick nap and then get moving, again.

  • The next Chopin?

My friend Laura sent (donated) this piano to Jake.  Those of you who really know Jake know that he does not show his excitement over something like most kids do (yelling, jumping, clapping, etc...).  So when he saw the piano he stood there and smiled and then he ran over to me and hugged me and said "Mom, I like it!"  That moment made getting a piano so worth the noise that is going to come from it.  Laura said that she hoped Jake enjoys his new torture device.  After hearing him play we can all see what kind of torture I will be going through!  Hopefully it will be worth it.  Who knows he may one day be compared to the great pianists...Horowitz, Chopin, Beethoven, Billy Joel... one never knows.

  • We never made it to the movies...

My fault.  No sooner had I finished getting ready, my allergies kicked in.  We had a front coming in that really got me going.  UGH!!! I looked miserable and could not stop sneezing.  So we decided that people at the theatre might not be happy.  Instead we went out to dinner.  I did okay on the way there and was perfectly fine in the restaurant, thought the meds were kicking in.  As soon as we walked outside I started right back up!

Today the eyes won't stop running.

I love where I live, I love where I live, I love where I live....

    NOT!

  • In case you are wondering where I have been, I must confess that I have an addiction that I am trying to work with.  It is taking over and I am getting totally consumed by it.  It is called....

    FACEBOOK!

Oh my gosh, I am having so much fun right now reuniting with many of my college sorority sisters.  Yes, I was a sorority girl, but a good one...at least as far as you know! So that is why I have not been blogging.  Sorry.  We had a great Christmas.  My parents came to visit and everything went so well.  Here are a few pictures I want to share with you and then I am going to go to bed, seriously I have shut down Facebook and won't go back to it for at least the next 12 hours....seriously.

This is me, my grandmother, my mom and my uncle John, and Jake in El Paso.

  • Today we went to visit Santa.  This was the first year that Jake was so excited to go and see him.  He was going over his list of what he wanted to tell Santa in the car.  It was so cute.  He went right up to him.  I asked if it would be okay to video tape him talking to Santa.  I figured it would be fine especially since I was purchasing a picture.  They said I could but I had to be behind the fenced off area.  Here is what I got: (And I wasn't even following the rules, I was way in front of the fenced off area)

I was majorly disappointed.  I really wanted to be close enough to hear him talking to Santa.  But his picture that they took turned out cute.  I was not impressed with the Santa though, I know he was hot, but not very enthusiastic.  But all that matters is that Jake was happy and he was.  He told me on the way to the car that Santa was a nice guy and he even gave him a hug.  I love how sweet and innocent they are at this age.
