  • So far, I don't like any of the  advice given to me in my post below!
If one person would tell me to do it, I have to admit I might listen to them! HA!

  • Hello all.

I am trying to stay up on this blog, but I have a good excuse for this past week.  My surgery!  All went well and I feel 100% back to myself.  A big thank you to all of you who wished me well.  So now that all that mess is passed me it is time to focus on VACATION!!!

We are going to Florida to visit my parents and we are taking Jake to Disney World.  I think Bob and I are more excited about going to Disney World than Jake is! HA!  I have been trying to show Jake what it is all about, but he has no idea.  I also have been introducing him to some of the Disney Characters that he is not aware of like Cinderella, Snow White, Pinocchio... I want him to recognize them when we go there.  Jake can not wait.  We have a calender set up so that Jake can keep track of how many days until we arrive to Grandma and Grandpa's house.  He loves marking it each morning.  He is planning his visit too.  Keeps telling me that we have to go to the beach and swim in Grandpa's pool.  Sounds great to me.

Only problem is I am suppose to stay out of the pool/ocean for 6 weeks.  That is going to be hard.  Not so sure I can do it.  Might take the chance and risk an infection, it will have been three weeks since the surgery and I don't have any actual cuts or stitches so I am just going to have to think on this some more.  Would you follow doctors orders if you were me?

  • I am on a roll...

This is just a quick post.  I finally received Jake's t-ball pictures.
He loves playing t-ball and we have seen him grow in this sport.
Who knows, maybe he will be the next Babe Ruth!

  • Slacker and then some...

WOW, I posted 2 times this whole month!  What is that all about?  I do not know why I have not been wanting to post on here.  Has nothing to do with Xanga.  I still enjoy it and I try to get around and check out other's blogs.  I think it may be that I like Facebook better.  But I am going to try to do a much better job keeping up on this one.  This post will probably be long because I am going to just write about whatever pops into my mind.

Lucky you, at least the few of you who still check the blog out once in a while.

I just went way bac into the blog starting with Jan 1, 2006.  I was looking to see if I ever posted Jakes bedroom on here after we did it when we first moved in.  I will tell you why in a minute.  Anyway I started going through a bunch of old posts.  Oh my goodness it was so sweet to remember things, and see pictures of Jake so small.  I do miss those days even though I love his age right now too!  It was bitter sweet.  I wonder if there is a way to print off these posts and scrabook them somehow? I would hate to loose all this if one day Xanga shut down permanently.  Hmm....something to think about.  Anyway the reason I was looking for the post on Jake's room is because of this person's blog: Kelly  She has been asking her readers to post pictures of their house one room at a time each week on Friday.  Today was children's room.  She has a lot of readers and WOWZIE WOW WOW!  Some people really have a nack for decorating.  I wanted to post mine.  I think I have to go back a little farther to find it.  Oh well.  Anyway check it out.  Plus her baby is just to cute not to look at her pics!

So summer vacation has started for us.  Jake has completed Pre K!  YEAH!  I am actually glad this year is over.  I know Jake learned a lot but over all I was not impressed with his teacher.  She had some poor communication with us and some of the things she did were kind of a let down.  No end of the year celebration.  The real thing that bothered me the most is that I felt like parents were not really welcomed into the classroom.  She never asked for help except for for field trips or to have food brought in.  I will give her credit that she actually let me and my friend Suzana plan the Christmas party, which wasn't really a big party.  It was her first time letting a parent do that.  Of course, both our kids were sick so we did all the work and she threw the party!  I did learn a lot though being a parent this time of what it is like to be opposite the teacher.  I think I understand more now of how a parent feels when they have to approach you about a situation that may be uncomfortable, like singeling out your child in front of the class, and I also realized how important it is to communicate.  Let the parents know what is going on in the class each week so that they have something to talk about with their child.  Don't tell me we are doing math...what kind of math. Oh well, it is over and I know that in the end Jake was happy because he keeps asking me when he is going back to school...I am starting to ask the same thing.  I just hope he has an awesome teacher in Kindergarten.

Speaking of Jake he crashed and burned yesterday on his bike.  Thank God we are not doing pictures anytime soon:

We are going to Disney World in a few weeks.  All of us are excited about this trip.  First we are going to see my parents and stay there for a few days.  I have not been home since the Summer of 2006!  Can't believe that.  I have seen my parents since then but not at there home.  If anybody has any good advice to pass on about Disney please do.  We are going during the week and staying at Shades of Green.  I am so ready for a vacation.

Well golly, I really thought I had a lot more to say.  But I am going to try to stay on this and blog at least 2 times a week.  I am also challenging many of my readers out there to do the same if not one up me!  I am getting tired of going to someones blog and the same post from a week or two ago is still there.  I am only guessing you feel the same way if you check out my blog.  To those who are still blogging along, thank you.  I may not comment on your blog, but I do enjoy reading it.

    Have a great weekend!

Oh one more thing.  I am having surgery on Tuesday, it is a procedure called NovaSure.  Anyone every have it done or heard of it?  Basically, and this may be TMI for some, it stops or almost stops your periods.  Mine are aweful and I am so looking forward to this surgery.  Please think of me on Tuesday that all goes well.

    Ciao for now!

  • For those of you who do not know this Jake loves Thomas the Train.  I mean LOOOOVES him.  Today we drove by our friend Korbin and Waylens house and he said that is where they live and I said the moved.  He asked where and I told him then he asked where were we going to move to?  A few of our friends are moving soon and he is aware of this.  I told him we were not moving yet, and he said that we can move to the Island of Sodor and be friends with Thomas, Gordon, and the rest of the trains.  Sounds like fun to me.  Anyway, Jake loves to play with his trains for hours.  He will tell stories while he is playing.  He makes noises that are the trains, he uses different voices, the English terms, and even tells who is saying what.  I was able to get him on tape tonight while he was bathing telling his story.  It is a bit long, but I thought it was precious so I am sharing it with you.  He makes some weird sounds but it is the trains bumping into each other.  Sorry for some of the movement around...arm gets a little tired of holding the camera up.  Anyway I hope you enjoy it.

This is the only time a girl will be in his bed!
He has been asking for a bed like our friend's son, Dusty...
Now he has it, thanks to Dusty no longer using it.
There is another bed but we are not going
to put it up for now to save room on the floor.
I just hope he does not fall out of it!

  • Birthday Surprise and Easter Celebration

I hope that everyone had a beautiful Easter day.  We had a picture perfect day.  God has been good to us and for that I am very thankful.  I will share some pictures at the end of the post of our day but first I want to tell you about Bob's birthday celebration.

Bob's birthday isn't until the 18th but I wanted to do something fun for him so I decided to take him to Dallas for the night to see Ron White, a comedian. We went with our good friends Amy and Marshall.  We left early Friday morning.  Heather watched Jake for the night.  He had a blast and I am so greatful to her and Brad for watching him. Bob had no idea what we were doing for the evening, or so I thought.  We got up to Dallas and relaxed for a while at the hotel and then got ready to go out to eat dinner.  When we walked out of the hotel to get into the car there was this limo sitting up front and Amy jokingly says  "Here's your car for the night Bob."  We all laughed and Marshall walks up to the driver and says "Brian, I am Marshall Wilson."and shakes his hand.  My first thought was Geez...he knows everyone.  But then Amy and Bob and I look at each other in shock when we realized that Marshall got us a limo for the night!  Not one of us knew, not even Amy.  That surprise totally made the night.  It is good to have friends in high places! HA!

So we go to eat at this great restaurant... Pappadeaux.  Excellent food.  I had Talapia stuffed with a mixture of crab and mushrooms...incredible.  Bob had steak.  Everyone was pleased with their meals. So we still think that Bob has no idea we are going to see Ron White.  We had the waitor bring Bob a beer and the tickets, and tell him that it was from Ron White. Well while I was at the bathroom Bob tells Amy that he knows but he wasn't going to tell me.  I return to the table and the waitor brings the beer and screws up and says this is from Paul White.  He realized he screwed it up and we are all laughing.  Amy says that is like saying Stevie Vandross and the waiter, not getting it, says you mean Luther Vandrose...DUH!  So then Bob informed me he knew.  I was mad, he went and started searching the internet to find out what was playing in Dallas that night that he would want to see...he figured it out weeks ago.  He is a pest, no more surprises for him!

After dinner we went to the show.  It was awesome.  I have not laughed that hard in a long time.  But boy am I getting old, loud hecklers were getting on my nerves, drunks were getting on my nerves, and my body sure is not use to staying up until almost 2AM... and then waking up at 7, especially when I did not have to do that! UGH!  But we had such a good time and are so greatful that Amy and Marshall went with us.  It is nice to have such good friends.

Here is the limo driver waving goodbye.

I also need to say that Dallas is a great city.  Lots to do, so opposite of Abilene.  We went and saw this statue, The Mustanges of Las Colinas.  It is the largest equestrian statue in the world.  Kelly this is for you...

Today for Easter Jake had fun looking for his Easter basket.  The bunny left a trail of jellybeans and chocolate all over the house leading to the basket.  He also hid eggs all over.  Jake loved looking for them.  Then Marshall and Amy and Heather and Brad and all the kids came over for a late lunch.  We had a really nice time hanging out, eating good food, and enjoying the beautiful weather.  God is Good!

March 31, 2009

  • Can you believe that it is the last day of March?  I feel like we just took down the Christmas tree a few weeks ago.  So far 2009 is flying by.  April has some good things in store for us.  Bob's birthday is coming up.  I have a big surprise birthday present for him.  We will be going to Dallas for it.  That is all I can say for now, since he reads this. But I will let you know once it takes place.  Easter is coming up...haven't made plans for that day yet bt I know the Easter bunny has been getting som.  e baskets ready for our house.  Jake will have his first t-ball game take place this month.  So far he seems to really be enjoying the practice.  Some of these parents are hard core baseball fanatics.  We started practice last week and already one person wanted to know why we did not start the week earlier.  Um...these are 3 to 5 year olds and our first game is not until April 18th.  Plus we are practicing 2 days a week.  I think that is plenty.  These kids will be burned out before we even play a game.  The season lasts until the end of June....that is long!  Hope we stick with it.

Have to share a sweet moment with you...
Last night Jake wanted to go to Diary Queen to get an ice cream cone, I did not feel like having ice cream (Shocker, I know), so I told him no not tonight.  He asked why and I told him because I did not have any money.  He looked at me all sweet and said, " Mom, we can go and get ice cream, I have money and will pay for your ice cream."  What a sweetie to offer to treat his mom to ice cream.  Maybe I will let him buy tonight.

Well that's about it for now.  Got to go and buy some food for this week.  Enjoy the end of March.
