  • Well it has been a couple of weeks since my last posting...I need to start keeping up with this better.  There have been a few things happening in our life as of late.  Jake started Kindergarten!  He loves it and I am thrilled with his teacher so far.  She does so many awesome things with them and relates very well to the kids.  Jake is a talker and that is something we are working on, I think he gets it from his Grandma Mari! HA! Got to blame someone other than myself right? Anyway, his first two weeks have gone very well and I expect that this year will be a great one for Jake. Here is a picture of Jake with his teacher:

Soon after Jake started school we received sad news that Bob's Grandfather had passed away.  He was 93 years old.  An awesome man, who lived a good life.  Although he is missed by everyone here, we know he is in a good place.  Bob was able to go home to be there with his family for the funeral.  I think it was good for him to go home and be with his family.  It made him realize how important family is.
    We miss you Grandpa Ventola!

    Home for Christmas 034

I have returned back to work, so to speak.  I had my first Substitute job on Friday.  It felt good to be back in the classroom, even if it wasn't mine.  I need to make some decisions soon as to whether or not I get certified to teach here in Texas.  I keep waiting to hear that we have orders to move.  I don't want to spend the money on getting certified and then we move.  I had thought we would have had orders by now, but so far nothing.  I also have been toying with the idea of becoming a Realtor.  It is something I have always wanted to try.  I think my friends mom is my inspiration for wanting to be one.  I may start taking classes this winter so that I can become a licensed Realtor.  From what I understand it is much easier to take your license and transfer it in another state than it is for most teaching certifications.  So that is another option.  Part of me wants to go back to teaching (I think it is because I am comfortable with it) and the other part of me wants to do something new and different.  I realize that real estate is not doing so hot right now, but I would not be in it just for the money, although I know it could have the potential to bring in a nice income, it isn't why I am interested.  So lots to think about.

Otherwise, it is very quiet here in the burbs of Abilene...there are no burbs here, but I can pretend.  I hope to be back soon with more newsworthy stuff!

  • Sorry to hear about Grandpa's passing, but I'm glad to hear you like Jake's teacher and that school is going well. Yes of course, I've missed you too! I sent everybody emails with the blog address when I moved it to Blogger but I don't think anybody followed me. That doesn't stop me from blogging away, though.... lol Thanks for stopping by.

  • It is so hard to believe that Jake is starting school. It doesn't seem that long ago that he was born. Great picture with the teacher. We were all happy to have Bob in Columbus even though it was not for a happy time. I know it meant the world to Mari. Her boys are everything to her. (I loved having him there too). I love the picture of Dad with Jake too.

My next door neighbor got into being a Realator about a year ago. She loves it. Business is not great right now, but she uses it as a 2nd income. She is expecting her first child in the spring and hopes to just switch to reality alone.

  • My condolences on your hubby's grandfather.
Jake's teacher looks so young! lol..of course everyone is looking younger & younger to me now that I am rapidly approaching 50!
I think you should get your real estate license...if it is something that you are interested in, that would be great & something that you could easily transfer with to another state if you move. Between that & the teaching you could do pretty good.
