OMG! I have this annoying red breasted bird tapping, on my window in the dining room. He is also doing it on the bathroom window that is near by. He taps on these windows all day long, as if he wants to get in. He has been doing this for days. You should see how dirty the windows are because of this bird. AAAAAGH! It is so annoying....TAP, TAP, TAP
My mother has always said that if a bird enters into your home it is a sign of death. Great. I want this bird to go away. I do not need death knocking at my door (window) right now. I really hope that no one is dying right now because this bird is trying to get in. These crazy superstitions.I am open to all suggestions on how to get rid of this bird. If I had a BB gun, I might actually think about using it. But I am not one for using violence to get what I want. So please help!
I just want my windows to be clean and the bird to be gone.

Find a shotgun. That's a sign of the bird's death.
We had a bird doing that last summer for over a month. We have a bench sitting on our front porch in front of the big picture window and the bird would sit on back of that bench pecking at the glass...several times he would fly into it. I was afraid it would hit it hard enough some day flying into it to shatter or crack it. Hubby thought it was because he could see the big screen tv...I didn't agree with that though. I just wrote it of as the bird having mental problems...LOL...it finally left thank goodness, especially after reading here of the superstition you wote about here....YIKES!!
I read on an e-mail or something, that birds don't like the smell & I'm sure the feel of W-D 40 & to spray it on places they perch.
I bet they have a nest somewhere nearby. I bet it is annoying though.
I hope by now it has stopped?
